The $65 leather belt I wore backwards for 2 years until a cashier pointed it out

I always looped the buckle end through the left side of my pants and thought the loose tail hanging right was normal, but when a cashier at a gas station in Tulsa asked if I was left-handed and I said no, she laughed and showed me the guide loop on the right side, so now I'm wondering how many of you have had a similar gear revelation that made you feel like an absolute fool, or do you actually prefer the backwards style because it feels more secure?
