Why does everyone carry a multitool they never use?
Last week at a worksite in Portland, three guys pulled out pristine Leathermans to cut a zip tie. I asked when they last used them, all said months. If you carry gear that sits in a pocket all day, is it really daily carry or just weight? What do you actually rotate out of your loadout because it proved useless?

Three pristine Leathermans just for a zip tie? That's insane. I once watched a guy break his knife prying open a paint can, and the rest of us just used a screwdriver and were done in two seconds. Most of that stuff is just pocket jewelry for people who like the idea of being ready, not actually being ready. What was the last thing you actually ditched from your bag because it never earned its space?
