Found a 1954 map that still showed the Soviet Union as one giant blob

Last week I was digging through a box of my grandpa's old stuff in Cleveland and pulled out this 1954 atlas. The borders for Eastern Europe were all wrong, like they just gave up and colored everything east of Germany one shade of red. It even had Yugoslavia as a single country, which felt wild since my dad was born there before it split into 7 pieces. I spent a solid hour comparing it to a 1991 map I have, and the differences tell so much history in just 37 years. The funny part is the city names are all transliterated differently, like Kiev instead of Kyiv, which dates it instantly. Has anyone else found a Cold War era map that just makes you laugh at how simplified everything looks? Now I'm wondering if I should frame it next to the modern version just to show the change.
