Found a 1960s gas station map with a city called "New Amsterdam" that doesn't exist anymore

I was digging through a box at an estate sale last weekend and found a Texaco road map from 1965. It showed this town called New Amsterdam in central Kansas that I've never heard of. Looked it up on my phone and apparently the town got abandoned after a tornado in 1973 and the name was wiped off most modern maps. I used to always think dated maps were just funny for having wrong borders or misspelled names, but this one actually showed a whole place that just disappeared. Kinda changed how I look at these old maps now. Anyone else found a ghost town on an old map?

Man that is wild, finding a whole town that just vanished like that must feel surreal.

Yeah just a minor detail to overlook when buying property, right? "Oh yeah the whole town disappeared, but look at these low taxes!
