Noticed a weird border mistake on a 1950s map of Colorado I picked up at an estate sale last Saturday

I got this old folded map from a box of random stuff for $3. It shows Colorado with this weird squiggly line where the Utah border should be, like they just guessed at the actual line. Looked it up later and apparently some older maps had errors from surveyors getting confused by the terrain. Has anyone else run into old state maps that just completely messed up the borders?

Wasn't it surveyors just using bad maps, not the terrain itself?

Read somewhere the original surveyors just copied the wrong map and nobody double-checked.
