Dropped $60 on a 'complete' dead mall kit on eBay and the flashlight died in 20 minutes at Rolling Acres

Bought a cheap explorer bundle online for $60 that came with a headlamp, gloves, and a dusty respirator, thinking I was set for my first solo trip to a half-empty mall in Akron. The headlamp flickered out about 20 minutes into the dark anchor store, so I ended up using my phone light and tripping over a fallen ceiling tile, and the respirator smelled like an old basement. Has anyone else gotten burned by those pre-made urbex kits, or do you just build your own gear one piece at a time?
