Rant: the escalator at the old Crestwood Mall in St. Louis ate my shoe and I had to walk out in socks
Went to shoot the dead Crestwood Mall in St. Louis a few weeks back and stepped onto the frozen escalator near the old Dillard's just to get a better angle, and the step plate gave way and swallowed my left sneaker up to the ankle. Took me and my buddy Ryan about 20 minutes with a tire iron to pry the panel up and get it back, and the shoe came out looking like a melted waffle. Also found three dead pigeons and a 1998 Sears catalog up there, so honestly not a total loss. Has anyone else had a floor or step just straight up eat their gear, or am I the only one dumb enough to trust a mall escalator that hasn't moved since 2009?
