Pro tip: the dollar store scanner app changed how I coupon after a trip to Phoenix
I used to just grab whatever looked cheap at the Dollar Tree on Camelback Road in Phoenix last weekend and hope for the best. A lady in line next to me scanned a $1 pack of sponges with the store app and it popped up as 25 cents off, then she stacked a paper coupon on top. I tried it on a $10 haul and walked out paying $6.40, which is way better than my usual guessing game. Now I check the app before I even walk in the door instead of at the register. Does anyone know if the app works the same at Family Dollar or just the straight Dollar Tree stores?
The app scanning trick works because Dollar Tree has its own app, but Family Dollar is a totally different company so that same app won't do anything there. Family Dollar does have its own app with digital coupons, but you can't stack them the same way and they run on different sales cycles. The stacking part you got lucky on is really a Dollar Tree thing since their coupons and app discounts are set up to work together.
