A customer told me my fuel filter change method was a waste of time
Honestly, I used to always pull the whole filter housing on Duramax trucks to clean it out, which took about 45 minutes. This fleet manager in Boise told me last month, 'You're just making extra work, the new filters have a seal that cleans the cup on install.' I checked the service notes, and he was right. Now I just do a quick wipe and swap the filter in 15 minutes unless I see real junk in there. Has anyone else had a customer point out a better way to do a basic job?

Ever have a moment like that where you feel kinda dumb? Customer schools you on your own job. Happens to the best of us, good on you for listening.

Wait, did the customer actually know more about their own job or about your job? That's a whole different level of awkward. I'd be replaying that in my head for weeks. How did you even handle it in the moment?

Oh man, was it a technical detail they corrected or more of a process thing? I'm curious if you just nodded and moved on or if you had to actually backtrack and apologize lol.
