Customer told me my injector timing was off, turns out he was right

Had a guy with a 2015 Cummins 6.7 come in last month complaining about rough idle. I did my usual scan and said it was a sensor issue (you know, typical diag). He pushed back and specifically said the injector timing felt wrong and asked me to check the cam/crank correlation. I was annoyed at first but humored him. Sure enough, the timing was off by 3 degrees from a stretched chain. Fixed it and now I actually listen when customers describe what they feel driving. Has anyone else had a customer call out something specific that you brushed off?

Took me a while to learn this lesson myself. Had a lady with a Chevy 1500 tell me it was a bad ground wire and I basically shrugged it off for two days of chasing electrical gremlins. She was dead on, turned out to be the engine block ground strap. Now I always at least check what the customer is saying, even if it sounds weird. Its amazing how much people pick up from just driving their trucks every day.

Used to roll my eyes at customer theories, but that story changed my whole approach.
