Had a 6.0 Powerstroke with a persistent high-pressure oil leak, tried the 'freeze plug' trick with a 10mm socket and some RTV as a last resort.

Grease gun every few months is crazy. That's just asking for a bigger mess later. Some fixes are too wild to even try.

Yeah, the old socket trick. I saw a guy on a forum years back who did that, but he used a brass freeze plug and tapped it for a grease fitting. He'd give it a pump with a grease gun every few months to keep the seal swollen. Seemed like a wild thing to do to a high-pressure system, but he claimed it ran for another 30,000 miles like that. Desperate times, I guess.

Oh man, that grease gun trick is something else. I'd probably end up gluing myself to the truck bed or something stupid like that. @umab35 is right though, regular grease pumping sounds like a bigger headache waiting to happen down the road. I swear, some of these "fixes" make me feel better about my own shady repairs, like that time I used zip ties and a prayer to hold my alternator together.
