Had a turbo eat itself on a 2015 Freightliner last Thursday
It threw a chunk of compressor wheel into the aftercooler and took out the intake manifold gasket too, cost me $2,800 in parts and a full Saturday to fix it, anyone else ever had a turbo grenade on a Cascadia?

My 2016 did almost the exact same thing at 210k, threw a blade through the aftercooler and I ended up replacing the whole CAC like @nina180 mentioned. I found that swapping in a Banks Ram-Air intake helped keep debris from getting into the turbo in the first place, so I've run those ever since. The $2,800 parts cost sounds normal for a dealer-sourced turbo and gasket set, but you can save maybe $600 going through a diesel parts house online.

I had a 2013 Cascadia do the same thing around 185k miles, the compressor wheel shattered and sent shrapnel through the CAC tube, clogged up the aftercooler so bad I had to pull it off and flush it out. That $2,800 sounds about right though, I ended up replacing the turbo and the whole intake gasket set, plus a new CAC because the core was full of little metal pieces.
