Rant: That injector stupid copper washer took me 3 hours yesterday
I was swapping injectors on a 6.7 Cummins yesterday afternoon in Modesto and everything was going smooth until I got to cylinder 5. That stupid copper washer got stuck in the bore and I didn't see it at first. Spent over 3 hours trying to fish it out with picks and magnets before I finally pulled the whole injector tube. Has anyone else had these washers weld themselves in there or am I just unlucky?

My buddy Dave had this exact thing happen on his 2015 Ram out in Bakersfield last spring. He spent four hours fighting that same cylinder 5 copper washer with screwdrivers and a dental pick before he gave up and had a shop pull the tube for him. I talked to him on the phone that night and he was just fuming, said it felt like the washer was welded in with high heat. Your mileage may vary but I've heard from a few other guys that those washers can really stick if the injector has been in there for a while.

Gotta disagree with you on this one. I've pulled a ton of 6.7 injectors over the years and never had a copper washer stick like that. Maybe it's a heat cycle thing or just bad luck on that particular truck. Usually if you soak the bore with PB Blaster overnight and tap the injector tube gently with a brass punch before pulling it, those washers come out clean. Sounds like yours had some serious carbon buildup locking it in place.
