Serious question, has anyone else had success with a heat gun on a stubborn injector?
I was working on a 6.0 Powerstroke in a shop in Boise last week, and the number 8 injector was absolutely seized. I tried the usual puller and penetrant for an hour with no luck. On a hunch, I borrowed a buddy's Milwaukee heat gun and applied steady, focused heat to the injector body for about three minutes. It came free with a normal puller on the next try, no damage to the bore. What other tricks have you all used for this specific problem?

That three-minute heat cycle is a solid data point. I've seen guys torch the whole valley and still have issues. Did you check the injector bore for any warping after it cooled down?

Yeah I did check the bore with a straight edge. It looked fine, but I'm not totally convinced. What's the best way to measure for slight warping you can't see?

Oh man @tyler614, you gotta get a feeler gauge set and a precision straight edge, the machinist kind not the hardware store junk! Lay it across the bore in three different spots and check for any gap. If you see light through a 0.002" feeler, that head is cooked. I've caught warping that way on a 6.0 that looked dead flat to the eye. Don't trust just looking at it, that little gap will mess up your fire ring seal every time.
