A guy at the art show told me my colors were 'too safe' and I have been questioning everything since...

It was at a small gallery night in Austin last month, and this older painter just stared at my piece for a solid minute before he said it. I had spent like 3 weeks on that digital landscape using muted earth tones I thought looked professional. Do you guys ever get feedback that sticks in your head way longer than it should?

Ngl, sounds like he was just jealous you could make dirt look good.

Had a welder tell me my fence gates were too straight once, made me rethink my whole approach to metalwork for a month. @the_simon might be right about jealousy, maybe your colors made him feel exposed. Feedback like that can mess with you but sometimes it just means your style isnt what someone else would do.
