Can we talk about selling art prints on glossy paper?

I spent about 3 months making a digital series I was REALLY proud of, then I ordered test prints on glossy paper because everyone online says it makes colors pop. Got the prints back and the glare was so BAD you could barely see the details from certain angles. I learned that for my style, matte paper handles contrast way better and doesn't fight with my lighting setup at home. Has anyone else fought with print finishes and found a surprise winner?

but what kind of matte did you go with in the end? i've seen some matte papers that still have a weird texture that messes with fine details, almost like the ink sinks in too much. was yours more like a smooth matte or did it have that slight tooth to it?

Honestly, I feel your pain on that sinking issue, it's such a letdown when the details get lost like that.
