Discovered my digital art files are way bigger than I thought

I was cleaning out my hard drive and found a single PSD file from a project 3 years ago that's 4.7 GB. Had no idea a layered painting could get that huge. Anyone else ever check their file sizes and get surprised?

Yeah check the layer comps and history snapshots, those eat up space fast.

Huh, did you check if that file has a ton of hidden layers or something? I remember finding a PSD from a couple years back that was like 1.5GB and it turned out I had like 30 something layers I just kept piling on without realizing it. Pro tip, you can merge some of those hidden ones to shrink it way down without losing the main stuff.
