Everyone told me to use a smaller brush for digital portraits but I stuck with size 50 for a year and it made my art look messy until I finally tried a size 10 last week.
A guy in a Discord critique channel kept saying go tiny for details and I ignored him for 12 months, now I see he was right after I redid an eye in 10 minutes instead of 2 hours has anyone else fought against brush size advice and regretted it?

lol "fought against brush size advice" is the perfect way to put it. I had some guy in a group telling me to use hard round brushes for everything and I was like nah, I need my soft round for blending, then I spent six months trying to fix muddy skin tones until I just gave in and tried his way. Turns out hard edges actually make skin look way cleaner if you just layer the colors right, and I felt like such an idiot for wasting all that time lol.
