My portfolio site crashed during a live demo, now I always keep a local backup

Was showing my digital art collection to a client in Austin last Tuesday, and the web host went down right in the middle of it. I had everything organized by series, but none of it was saved offline, so I just sat there clicking dead links. After that I spent a day exporting all 47 pieces as high-res files onto a portable SSD, along with a simple HTML index I can open anywhere. Has anyone else had a gallery or portfolio fail mid-presentation, and what did you switch to for backup?
