Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say he only uses three brushes for everything
Honestly, I was waiting for my drink yesterday and this artist at the next table was telling his friend about his whole process. He said he only uses a round brush, a flat brush, and a soft airbrush in his main software, and he's been doing that for like two years now. He was showing his friend a really detailed cityscape on his tablet and said all the textures and lighting came from just those three tools. It made me stop and think because I have like fifty brushes downloaded and I'm always switching, trying to find the 'right' one. Tbh, I tried his method on a quick sketch last night, a simple forest scene, and it forced me to focus on actual shapes and values way more. I'm not saying I'll ditch my whole collection, but it's a cool way to practice. Has anyone else tried limiting their tools like that and found it helped?

That's just limiting your own creativity for no reason.

Used to think that way too, honestly.
