Saw a guy at the Seattle art fair say digital pieces aren't 'real' art
He was selling oil paintings for $2k and acting like my iPad sketches don't count. Has anyone else run into this gatekeeping at in-person shows?

$2k for oil paintings at a Seattle art fair? That's honestly bonkers. I looked at some of those booths last year and saw the same dude trying to sell a blurry landscape for $4k. Acting like digital isn't real art while charging those prices is just desperate gatekeeping.

Blurry landscape for $4k" is exactly the kind of thing that makes me understand why some traditional artists get defensive. My last digital piece literally took me 3 hours and still looked like a half-melted cat, so I can't judge anyone's process too harshly. At the end of the day, if someone hangs your work on their wall and it makes them feel something, that's art no matter what you drew it with.
