That one gallery owner in Portland who ragged on my color palette
I was showing my digital art at a small showcase in Portland last June, and this older gallery owner named Maria walked up to my booth. She just stared at my piece for a solid 30 seconds before saying "you're afraid of purple, aren't you?" and walked off. It stung at first but honestly she was right - I had zero deep purples or violets in any of my work. Has anyone else had a random stranger call out something obvious about your style like that?

Angry broccoli trees are still memorable though, people remember that stuff way more than safe art. Maria the palette ninja probably changed your whole color game in 5 seconds, that's actually kind of a power move honestly.

Oh man, that's brutal but kind of amazing she just dropped that bomb and dipped. I guess I should be grateful the only thing strangers call out in my work is that my trees look like "angry broccoli.
