Rant: I requested 7 diploma service quotes in 2 weeks and 5 of them quoted the same $129 price
So I finally decided to get my old associate's degree replaced after losing the original during a move about 3 years back, and I figured it would be a quick errand. I sent quote requests to 7 diploma service sites over the course of 2 weeks (this was back in March), and the weirdest thing happened. Five of them came back at almost the exact same number, $129, which felt way too neat to be a coincidence. I get that there's a going rate for this kind of thing, but when 5 out of 7 give you the same figure down to the dollar, it makes you wonder if they're all pulling from the same playbook. Two of them also asked for the same info, name, school, year, and a photo of my old transcript, and one of those said it would take 6 to 8 weeks. Has anyone else noticed this kind of price matching when they were shopping around for diploma help, or did I just happen to pick the exact wrong week to ask?
That "$129" bit is the tell right there. Same number across five shops is not a going rate, that is a cartel or one company running a bunch of fake storefronts. Talk to your school's registrar first, most of them still print replacements for way less, sometimes like 20 or 30 bucks. If your school is gone, try the state board that oversees colleges in that state, they keep records too. Anyone charging 129 and asking for a transcript photo is fishing for personal info, do not send that to a random site.
