The lady at the copy shop grilled me about my transcript order

Last spring I went to a local print place in Tacoma to get my old college transcript copied and notarized for a job application. The woman behind the counter, probably in her 60s, squinted at the paper like it was a fake ID. She asked why I had a 4.0 GPA but no degree conferral date, and I started sweating because honestly I had just grabbed the wrong file from my car. Turns out I had printed my unofficial record with a bunch of incomplete classes. She handed it back and said, "Honey, this looks like a grocery list of dropped courses, not a diploma service order." I admitted my mistake and she helped me pull the actual official copy from the school portal on my phone. Now I double check every document before walking into any office, and I still laugh thinking about her calling my transcript a grocery list. Has anyone else had a stranger catch an error before you did and save you from a huge headache?

...and honestly that reminds me of the time I tried to renew my passport at the post office and the clerk noticed my signature looked different from the one on my old passport. I was like, yeah, I changed my name after getting married five years ago and totally forgot to update it everywhere. She just looked at me over her glasses and said, "Well, that would have been a fun conversation at the border." I had to go home, dig out my marriage certificate from a box in the garage, and come back. Now I keep a folder in my car with all my important papers, which is a whole other disaster because the kids keep using it as a coloring book holder. But yeah, sometimes strangers really do save us from ourselves.
