I filed my SDI claim online back in March for a back injury and then heard nothing for five weeks, so I started calling the 800 number. The trick that worked for me was calling right at 8am when they open, not 8:15 or later, and pressing 0 instead of listening to the menu options. I got a live rep in Sacramento in about 9 minutes and she confirmed my claim was just sitting in a queue because one box on my doctor's form was blank.
