Disability adjuster told me I was reporting my symptoms wrong and it changed everything

I had this phone call with a claims adjuster named Karen from the San Diego office about 2 months ago. She straight up told me I was being too vague about my pain levels and that I needed to name specific tasks I can't do anymore instead of just saying 'I hurt'. Since I started saying stuff like 'can't lift a gallon of milk' or 'can't stand longer than 10 minutes in the kitchen' my paperwork moves way faster. Has anyone else gotten hit with that kind of feedback and tweaked how they describe their daily limits?

Is it just me or does insurance in general work better when you stop talking like a human and start talking like a robot reading a script? That same lesson hit me hard when I had to start phrasing everything to my health insurance like I was filing a police report instead of just describing how I felt. It's crazy how the system rewards you for dumbing down your own experience into bullet points.

So you have to become a machine to get the machine to work, @hart.ryan. Life's full of that nonsense.
