Filed my first disability claim in CA and got denied within 3 weeks

I put in my claim for chronic back pain back in February. Thought I had all my medical records straight from my doctor visits over the last 2 years. Got a denial letter on March 10th saying I didn't have enough evidence of how it affects my daily work. I guess they want more than just a diagnosis. Now I'm trying to get my chiropractor to write a detailed report about my limitations. Has anyone else dealt with the initial denial in California and had luck on appeal?

That whole system feels designed to say no at first almost like they're testing if you'll give up. Your chiropractor report is a good move, they need to see specific stuff like how long you can sit or stand before the pain kicks in. Did the denial letter mention anything about what kind of proof they're looking for exactly?

The first time I got denied for something similar, the letter said I needed "objective medical evidence" which basically meant x-rays or MRIs instead of just notes saying "patient reports pain." It's exhausting jumping through hoops when you're already hurting. That chiropractor report might work better if you have them include specific measurements like how many degrees you can bend before it gets bad. Hang in there, it's a slog but you're on the right track with getting documentation.
