Heard a judge name-drop a specific form number at the SD hearing
Sitting in the Santa Rosa hearing last Thursday, the judge told an applicant that their denial hinged on missing a SSA-827 form from 2018. It hit me that most of our delays come from paperwork nobody tells us about upfront. I went home and checked my own file, sure enough two old forms were buried in there. Has anyone else caught a missing form years later and just wanted to scream into a pillow?

Did they give you any way to see those missing forms before they became a problem? That's the part that makes me furious, there's no heads up, just a wall of denial years later. I found the same thing once, a medical release form from way back that nobody flagged, and I sat there staring at my screen like it was written in a foreign language. Most of us are just trying to keep our heads above water with the process, and then some random piece of paper we never even knew existed decides everything. I really feel for you, that pit in your stomach when you realize it was sitting there the whole time is awful.
