PSA: A claims rep told me my whole diary format was wrong and it made my fibro claim way easier
I had my fibro claim denied twice and could not figure out why. A rep on the phone asked me to read from my pain journal and after two minutes she stopped me and said, quote, you are writing a novel, not a log. She told me to drop the long paragraphs and just write three things for each day: what I did, how bad it got on a 1 to 10, and what I had to skip because of it. I live in Sacramento and my hearing is set for August 14, so I redid 10 weeks of entries in one weekend. It took maybe 3 hours total versus the 40 hours I dumped into the old version. My attorney read the new log and said it was the clearest symptom record she had seen from a client. Turns out decision makers do not have time to hunt for the details, so you have to hand it to them flat out. Did anyone else get told their logs were too wordy, and did switching to a simple format actually help?
