Psych eval report came back late and my reconsideration stalled for 3 weeks

Filed my CA disability appeal back in March for a back injury that's been dragging on since last fall. Got assigned to a doctor in Fresno for the independent medical exam, went in on the 12th, everything seemed fine. Then nothing. Called the claims office every week, kept getting the same script about how they were waiting on the report. Finally got a supervisor on the phone last Thursday and she found out the doc's office had sent it to the wrong fax number, some dental clinic in Visalia. They got the report resent that same day and my status updated within 48 hours. All that time lost because of a typo on a fax cover sheet. Has anyone else had to chase down their own medical records or reports just to keep the timeline moving? I'm wondering if there's a faster way to get them to reach out to the doctor directly next time instead of me waiting around.

Oh man, is faxing still the hill they're willing to die on? I swear, my own back records got lost once because someone typed my birth year wrong on a form, so the whole file went to a guy in Ohio who was born in 1962. That's wild they had a dentist holding your eval hostage, like some sort of weird medical turf war over paper. I ended up just calling the doc's office myself and begging them to email it directly to my case worker, which felt super backwards but worked in like two days. Next time, I'm asking for the direct line to whoever opens the mail, cause the middleman game is clearly not for me.
