Took 9 months to realize I was filing the wrong form for sleep apnea

I've been doing my own disability claim since March because I couldn't afford a lawyer. Every month I'd send in my VA sleep study results and my CPAP compliance printout. Last week my old buddy from the Navy asked to see my DBQ and just stared at me. Turns out I was submitting the claim as a new condition instead of a secondary condition to my PTSD rating. The VA rep in Fresno basically laughed and said I wasted 9 months of potential back pay. Has anyone else screwed up the DBQ section without realizing it?

Did you mark the wrong box for claimed conditions, cause I did the same thing with my back claim last year?
