Used to file my CA disability claim online instantly - now I mail it in slow and steady
Back in 2022 I'd fire off my claim on the EDD website the same day my doctor signed off, thinking faster meant faster approval. After getting denied twice for some technicality in San Jose, I switched to sending everything by certified mail with copies of my MRI results and doctor's notes from Dr. Patel. Now my claim from last August got approved in 6 weeks without any phone tag nightmares. Anyone else find that old school paper methods work better than their online portal?

Paper trail all the way, man. After getting my own claim bounced back three times from the EDD online system because of some dropdown menu glitch, I started mailing everything with tracking and return receipt. Took about 7 weeks for my approval last winter but I actually got paid without having to call and sit on hold for two hours. The online portal feels like it was designed by someone who never actually had to file a claim themselves. Certified mail plus copies of every single document is the way to go and I tell everyone I know the same thing.

You're totally right, and I say that as someone who once sent a certified letter to the wrong address and spent a month wondering why no one got back to me. Real big brain move on my part, really proved how smart I am.
