A rusted NES zapper at a yard sale changed my cleaning game

Watching that guy scrub contacts with a pink eraser after I spent $60 on specialty cleaner at a retro expo in Mesa convinced me to try the cheap route first, and honestly my OG Game Boy boots up faster now, anyone else ditched the fancy flux for basic supplies?

Tried the pink eraser trick myself after watching a retro repair video on YouTube. Worked way better than I expected on my old NES cartridges, and yeah, it saved me a ton of cash. The only thing I still use proper cleaner for is the actual console connectors since those are harder to get to. But for basic cart cleaning, a cheap eraser and some rubbing alcohol does the job just fine.
