Finally got a PS2 laser working after trying two different cleaning methods

My old fat PS2 stopped reading discs again, so I tried cleaning the laser lens. First I used a dry cotton swab like I always have, but it still skipped on blue discs. Then I got some 99% isopropyl alcohol and a new swab, did a very light wet clean, and let it dry for a full hour. The thing reads everything now, even my scratched up copy of Gran Turismo 4. Has anyone else found that a dry clean just doesn't cut it on these older lasers?

Yeah I read somewhere that a tiny bit of alcohol is the only way to get that film off.

Can confirm... it's a lifesaver.

@parkerkim has a point, but I found rubbing alcohol leaves streaks if you don't rinse it fast enough.
