Got a free PS3 with a blinking red light - one capacitor swap later and it's running.
Pulled a CECH-2001A out of a dumpster last Wednesday, took a chance on replacing the NEC/Tokin caps for $8 in parts. Has anyone else scored a free console that just needed a simple fix like this?

Running before you even swapped the caps?" Did you test it after just pulling it out?

Honestly, the fluid in that reservoir looked way too dark for just being pulled out of the box. That's not normal fresh fluid, even from a pre-filled loop. Ngl, I think they might have been running the system with that cloudy stuff for a while, but I could be wrong. The fact that they didn't even clean out the radiator or block before putting the new coolant in is the bigger issue to me. Tbh, skipping that step is just asking for gunk to build up later, no matter how good the new fluid is.
