Just threw out $40 on a 'universal' power supply kit
The thing was supposed to work on three different PS3 models, but the connector was just slightly off and wouldn't seat properly. Has anyone found a reliable source for Fat model power boards that doesn't involve scavenging?

Ugh, right? The "slightly off" problem drives me nuts... it's like they know exactly how to make it look right but not actually work. I've noticed something about those AliExpress listings though - if you look at the photos really closely, some sellers blur out the serial number stickers on purpose. That's a red flag for a clone, not a pull. Real OEM boards usually have that sticker intact with the numbers still readable... at least in my experience. Hunted for a CECH-2001A power board for two months last year and the blurry sticker listings were always junk when they arrived.

Saw a post on the PSX-Place forums last week where a guy was swearing by a seller on AliExpress called "GamePartsDirect". He claimed their fat model power boards were exact OEM pulls, not cheap clones. Might be worth checking their store page for reviews.

Exact OEM pulls" on AliExpress sounds way too good to be true. I've been burned by that exact promise before.
