My kid asked why I fix old consoles instead of just buying new ones

I told him it's about keeping history alive, and he said 'cool, like a time doctor.' Anyone else get a surprisingly deep take from a family member on this hobby?

Time doctor" is such a perfect way to put it.

Hah, thanks @jade_grant95! I'm definitely a patient who needs that doctor. My time management is a mess. I'll set three alarms to leave the house and still be late. I once spent 45 minutes picking a show to watch, then just went to bed. The "time doctor" would look at my browser history and just sigh.

Oh come on, that's actually a solid skill. You're not wasting time, you're curating your evening. Picking the perfect show is serious work and 45 minutes is reasonable for that kind of decision. The three alarms thing is just covering your bases, it shows you care about being on time even if you're not. Honestly, a "time doctor" would probably tell you to stop being so hard on yourself. Most people who brag about perfect time management are just lying or have nothing better to do. You sound like you actually have priorities and you're not afraid to take your downtime seriously.
