My Thursday ruined by a $4 heat gun and a stuck N64 shell

Tried to soften the plastic around a stripped screw on my N64 and the cheap heat gun shot flames for a second, melted a thumb-sized hole in the shell and singed my eyebrow hair. Has anyone else had a budget tool backfire this bad, or am I the only one who should stick to a soldering iron for everything?
