Repair shop guy in Kalamazoo told me to reflow with a heat gun, it actually worked

My Xbox One S started showing the black screen of death last month. Took it to this small shop near the mall, old dude named Ray said it was the HDMI retimer chip coming loose. He told me to forget the hot air station and just use a heat gun on low at about 300F for 45 seconds. I was skeptical because everyone online warns against it. Tried it anyway on a dead spare board first, then did the real fix. Booted right up and it's been solid for 3 weeks now. Anyone else had luck with the cheap heat gun route or did I just get lucky?

Hell yeah, did the same trick on my old PS4 and it's been running fine for months!
