Why does nobody talk about using a soft brush to clean console internals?

I opened up my old console to find a lot of dust inside, which was causing overheating. A soft paintbrush worked great to gently remove the dust without damaging anything. What are your go-to ways to clean console parts safely?

Actually, soft brushes can create static and fry parts. I just use compressed air.

Compressed air just blows dust deeper into the case and fans. A soft brush lets you actually lift it out. The static fear is way overblown for modern parts unless you're rubbing the brush on a balloon first. Grounding yourself is simple, like leo said. I've used the same cheap brush for years with zero issues.

That's a good example of how common sense fixes get overcomplicated. @xenar14 has a point about static, but holding the brush by the metal ferrule grounds you. Sometimes the simple tool you already have is the perfect one for a careful job.
