Bought a $25 hand grinder as a joke, now it sits next to my $400 electric

Got the cheap ceramic burr one off Amazon last month just to see if the snobs were full of it. Honestly thought I'd use it once for camping and forget it. But for a single dose in the morning, it grinds consistent enough that my shots actually taste better. Not saying it beats the good one on a busy day, but I stopped reaching for the electric on weekends. Anyone else find that a cheap tool wins for a specific scenario and now you feel dumb for spending big?

Figure out the real difference first. A lot of times the cheap grinder wins because it forces you to slow down and be deliberate with your dose. With the electric one, you just hit a button and walk away, so you never notice how much the grind changes as the hopper empties or the burrs heat up. The hand grinder makes you stand there and feel every variable, so you compensate without thinking about it. That's not the tool being better, that's you being more careful with it.
