Chat with a barista at a coffee expo changed my grind size game

I was at the Seattle Coffee Expo 3 weeks ago and this barista from a tiny shop in Vermont told me I was grinding way too fine for my home machine. She said most home espresso setups can't handle that super fine powder and it just chokes the shot. I went home and backed off my grinder maybe 4 or 5 clicks coarser and my shots actually started flowing right for the first time in months. Has anyone else had a random stranger totally change how you make coffee with just one sentence?

That barista basically unlocked a whole new coffee world for you with one sentence! It's wild how the most helpful advice often comes from complete strangers who just happened to be in the right place at the right time. There's something about those random hallway conversations or quick chats at events that stick with you because the person has no agenda, they're just sharing what they know. I've noticed that the best life hacks usually come from unexpected sources, not from experts or tutorials. That coffee expo moment is a perfect example of how being open to hearing someone out can totally change your daily routine for the better.

Right? It's like the universe just drops these little nuggets when you least expect them. I got my favorite baking tip from a lady at the grocery store checkout line, just a quick thing about adding a pinch of salt to chocolate chip cookies. Never would have thought to try it if she hadn't mentioned it so casually.
