Chatted with a barista about pre-ground coffee and it hit me

I was talking to this barista at a shop in Austin last weekend and he told me that even with a $50 espresso machine, fresh beans beat stale pre-ground every time. He said the grind size changes everything, and I realized I've been blaming my cheap machine when it's really my old grocery store beans. Has anyone else found a solid budget grinder that doesn't cost more than the machine itself?

Yeah the Baratza Encore is the sweet spot, does the job without breaking the bank.

@noah_barnes actually the Encore is good but the burrs wobble a bit after some use.
