Got burned buying a used espresso machine off Facebook Marketplace

Ngl, I spent $200 on a used Gaggia Classic from some guy in Portland, and it arrived with a busted pump and a rusted boiler. I thought I was saving money, but the repair parts cost me another $80 and 3 weekends of tinkering. If you're buying used, ask for a video of it pulling a shot first. Anyone else have a Marketplace horror story?

Ugh, I feel you on that "busted pump" thing. I bought a Breville Barista Express off a guy who swore it was "lightly used" and got there to find the steam wand was completely clogged with old milk residue. It took me a whole weekend with descaling solution and a paperclip to even get it working, and I still had to replace the group gasket later. Your tip about asking for a video is gold, I wish I'd done that before handing over cash. Marketplace is such a gamble but when it works it's great, it's just the horror stories that stick with you.

And @skyler516 that reminds me, my neighbor once sold me a "like new" espresso machine that turned out to be full of ants.
