Just pulled the best shot I've had in months using a 5 dollar fix

I was at my buddy's place in Portland last weekend and noticed his machine was pulling way better than mine. Turns out he just replaced the o-ring on his portafilter for like 5 bucks. I came home, did the same thing on my Gaggia, and holy cow the difference was night and day. No more channeling and the crema is actually thick now. Anyone else ever overlook a cheap rubber part and get this big of a win?

Right?? I did the exact same thing last year on my old Breville. It's wild how a tiny rubber ring can make or break your whole morning. I was about to throw the whole machine out before I swapped it.

My old breville actually had a different problem where the gasket would swell up instead of shrink... had to replace it three times before I realized I was probably cleaning it wrong. So in my case it was more about user error than the part failing, you know? Different machines might just have different quirks though, your fix totally makes sense for yours.
