Ran into a stuck shower screen that took me 2 hours to unscrew on my old Gaggia

I've had this Gaggia Classic for like 8 years now and usually cleaning is a breeze. But last week I went to take off the shower screen to do a deep descale and it was completely seized. Tried everything - soaking in hot water, vinegar, even stuck a screwdriver through the holes for leverage. Nothing worked. Finally remembered an old trick I saw on a forum, heated the group head with a blow dryer for like 5 minutes straight and it broke loose. Simple fix but I wasted way too much time trying to force it. Anyone else had a bolt or part on their machine just refuse to budge out of nowhere?

Watched a 15 minute YouTube fix video and still ended up using my blow dryer on it too. Pretty sure my neighbors think I'm drying my espresso machine's hair or something.

Happened to me a couple months back on my older Gaggia too. I mean, I tried the same stuff you did and nothing worked for way too long. What finally did it for me was putting a couple drops of penetrating oil around the bolt head and letting it sit overnight. Next morning it came loose with just a little pressure from a regular screwdriver. Kinda felt stupid for not trying that first but you don't always think about it when you're in the moment. The heat trick with a blow dryer sounds solid too, especially if you don't want any oil near the machine.
