The $45 bottomless portafilter that made worse coffee

I grabbed a cheap bottomless portafilter off Amazon last month and it sprayed coffee everywhere, making a mess on my counter and underextracting every shot. Turns out the basket was too shallow and the holes were drilled unevenly, so I went back to my stock double spout after wasting two weeks and a bag of beans. Anyone else get burned by bargain portafilters, or did I just pick a dud?

Sticking with the stock basket solved it for me, those cheap ones just aren't worth the hassle.
