Watched a guy at the local roastery pull shots on a $200 machine that tasted better than my $1,500 setup.
He was using a cheap hand grinder and a really simple puck prep routine with just a paperclip to stir the grounds, which convinced me to ditch my fancy distributor tool and try his method, and now I'm getting way fewer channeling issues but still wondering if anyone else has found a similar hack with basic tools?

Does a paperclip really beat a $50 tool?

Haha wait, a paperclip? Like the little silver wire thing? That's wild to me @gavinperez. I've seen guys try to jimmy locks with bobby pins and it never works, but a paperclip just seems way too flimsy for anything real. Unless you're talking about poking a reset button on a phone or something, then yeah maybe. But beating a $50 tool in a real job? lmao no chance.
