Can we talk about how long it takes to strip old wallpaper?

I spent 8 hours on a single hallway wall in my 1920s house last weekend and barely got half of it off. Has anyone found a steamer that actually works faster than a spray bottle and scraper?

Is it even wallpaper at that point or just dried spite holding it to the wall?

Wait, does that mean the wall is being held together more by stubbornness than glue at that point? Honestly sounds like a solid strategy if it buys you another six months before dealing with this nightmare.
