I painted my kitchen cabinets with a $30 sprayer and it was a total mess

I got this cheap handheld paint sprayer from Harbor Freight thinking it would save me a weekend of brush work on my oak cabinets. I mean, I watched a few videos and it looked easy, right? I taped up the whole kitchen, put down drop cloths, and started spraying. The paint came out in these weird globs and drips everywhere, and I ended up with a texture like orange peel on every single door. It took me two full days just to sand it all back down smooth. I learned that a cheap tool can cost you way more time than it saves, and maybe some jobs just need a good brush and roller. Has anyone else had a sprayer project go sideways and found a better way to fix it?

Orange peel is the worst" - oh man, that's putting it mildly. I've had coats peel off in sheets before, but orange peel is just insult to injury. You think you're getting a smooth finish and then bam, it looks like the surface of a basketball. The worst part is when you sand it down and try again, only to have the same thing happen (if you're lucky enough to not have to strip the whole thing). I've got a graveyard of projects in my garage that started as "quick refinishing jobs" and ended up as texture experiments. At least with science experiments you can learn something, right? I just get stuck with ugly cabinets.
